Objective:

This system was developed for a client in Europe. The primary requirement for this application was that it could be used in different organizations for internal communication. This could be customized different environments and additional functionalities (example: chat, message board etc.) could be added without having to change the basic functionality.

Process followed:

To develop this application an iterative approach was adopted, where the developed modules were shared with the client and the feedbacks were incorporated in the next iteration of development. The architecture of the application had to such that new functionalities could be added without changing the code of the application. So the core of the application was built and the additional functionalities were added as plug-ins.

• Java 6 and Java EE 5 were used as the platform for building this tool.
• Enterprise Java Beans (EJB 3.0) was used for computing the business logic.
• The application can be hosted in any application server; Glassfish V3 was the primary target.
• Java Authentication and Authorization was used to for user authentication and authorization
